Aston Martin released a 15-second teaser trailer that confirms one crucial detail – the V12 Vantage is back! Like an aging Hollywood action hero, the Aston Martin V12 Vantage is returning for another, and final, go-around. The teaser trailer video only shows a V12 Vantage badge being blurred under the immense force and sound of 12 angry revving cylinders. At this time, the only two details that are confirmed are that the car will be released next year, presumably as a 2023 model, and it will be the last V12 Vantage.
The last time Aston Martin offered a V12 engine for the Vantage was in 2017. Since then, the “baby Aston” has been V8 powered. In recent years, Aston Martin has been using AMG-scoured 4.0-liter V8 engines. However, new plans lean towards Aston moving to use Mercedes-AMG engines exclusively as they want to continue to offer gasoline-only powered sports cars alongside hybrid and electric models. As a result, there may not be any room in the lineup for Aston Martin’s V12. So, the Aston Martin V12 Vantage will be its final swan song – the last ride.
This leaves us speculating on the specs and production numbers of the final Aston Martin V12 Vantage. The current V12 engine offered in the DBS Superleggera produces 715-hp, and the DB11 cranks out 630-hp. So, will Aston Martin slap on a set of twin-turbochargers, or will it go naturally-aspirated with a manual transmission for a nostalgic send-off? Only time and probably a few more teaser trailers will tell.
In other Aston Martin news, the supercar producer has announced the first completed Street-Legal Valkyrie.
