Big news from Ford is the return of the Mach 1 name for the 2021 Mustang. It will be a limited edition, but Ford did not give a production number or price. The base for the Mach 1 will be the same as the 2020 Bullitt Mustang. Standard hardware will be a 5.0-liter V8 producing 480 horsepower, 420 pound feet of torque, and a six speed Tremec manual transmission. A 10-speed automatic will be offered as an option. A handling package will also be offered that includes bigger wheels and tires, and MagnaRide tuned suspension unique to the Mach 1.
The interior will be similar to the Bullitt which is good because that means it’ll be comfortable with leather bucket seats. What will make the 2021 Mustang Mach 1 a weekend track day warrior are various go-fast goodies from Shelby. The 2021 Mach 1 Mustang will have an intake manifold, oil filter adapter, and engine oil cooler from the GT350. MagnaRide tuned suspension and various components are from the Shelby GT500. Michelin PS4 tires and brake booster are taken from the Mustang Performance Package Level 2. The Mach 1 will also feature unique aluminum wheels that pay homage to the Magnum 500 wheel from the muscle car heyday. The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 is set to arrive in spring 2021.
