1964 Bill Thomas Cheetah

One of only 15 surviving examples, this Cheetah is powered by a genuine Corvette 427 L88 engine.

Designed and built completely with American components, the Bill Thomas Cheetah was a race car designed to take on the Shelby Cobra back in 1963. It’s a rare sight that even perplexes hardcore gear heads as to what it is, with less than two-dozen unconfirmed examples ever produced. It’s unique shape, racing pedigree, and rarity make them highly sought after collector’s items these days, and one of only 15 remaining examples has just hit the auction block.

This particular vehicle is the only example ever built and raced with the infamous Corvette heavy-duty 427 L88 engine. It has gone through a thorough restoration, bringing the car back to its former glory. The best part is that this race car has been titled and licensed for street use since 1969, making it fully road legal. The Cheetah is finished in Corvette Sebring Silver with a black interior, but has been upgraded with a wide body Ansen rear wheels with Firestone Indy tires, dual Corvette radiators, upgraded heavy-duty chassis for the new 396/425hp Corvette engine and M22 Muncie Rock Crusher, and disc brakes.
