A rare find, this classic 1962 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster is in superb condition and comes with extensive documentation and original equipment like its tools and owner’s manual. With just 65,000 miles on the odometer, this vintage 300 SL Roadster runs as smoothly as when it rolled off the factory floor. Road and Track magazine recorded a top speed of 140 mph and noted that the convertible roared from 0 to 60 in 7.4 seconds. Mercedes-Benz was able to engineer the roadster’s inline-six engine at a 45-degree angle to improve the aerodynamics of the bonnet line. This made the 300 SL Roadster the fastest convertible of its era.

Just 1,858 of this model were built with production running from 1954 through 1963. This particular 300 SL Roadster has had just 4 owners who each took meticulous care of it. Auxietre & Schmidt’s ability to verify the succession of ownership they procured this vintage roadster from ensures that it is a true original — both inside and out. That vigilant care means this classic Mercedes-Benz hasn’t had the need to undergo any extensive restorations. An iconic vehicle of a bygone era in pristine condition, the only changes to this 300 SL Roadster are its new disc brakes and a hardtop roof, while every other element has been kept intact for nearly 50 years.
