This week, Unimatic released a limited edition, left-hand version of its Modello Uno timepiece, in collaboration with Italian retailer Grimoldi Milano. The Unimatic x Grimoldi Milano Modello Uno U1-GM is an eye-catching timepiece with its bold orange dial and illuminated hands and indices. However, the overall visual design of the watch is subtle and understated, making those strong colors look tasteful, with the matching International Orange TPU two-piece strap, plus a backup nylon Nato strap in black. Modeled after the classic pro-diver watches of the 1970s, the Unimatic U1-GM is is a watch that comes with a Seiko NH35A automatic movement tuned to 21,600 bph.
The Unimatic U1-GM has no date function, and the dial is pristine, as is typical of most Unimatic timepieces. The unidirectional bezel has a 120-click rotation and gray aluminum insert with a 0-60 dive scale. The hour markers and hands in Super-LumiNova® BGW9 white lume provide excellent legibility. At a sleek 2.5mm by 40mm with a double domed sapphire casing, a brushed finish, and water resistance up to 300 meters, the U1-GM is a perfect combination of durability and classic understated style.
