Inspired by the theme “Time Weathers Everything,” Unimatic and Norwegian Rain came together in a unique collaboration to design the Unimatic x Norwegian Rain Limited Edition Collection. Norwegian Rain, producer of tailor-sharp raincoats, partnered with watchmaker Unimatic, a brand known for interpreting and then reinterpreting classic design elements, to release two new timepieces — the Modello Uno U1-NR ‘Norwegian Rain’ and the Modello Uno U1-NRN ‘Norwegian Rain.’ It is the idea that man can neither tame the weather nor capture time that was the impetus for the overall design of both timepieces in the Unimatic x Norwegian Rain Limited Edition Collaboration.
These exclusive releases are built on Unimatic’s Modello Uno framework. The focal point of both models is the intricately designed sandwich cutout, two-layer dial made with solid copper with cutout markings revealing a contrasting, brushed raw copper blank underneath. The contrast is given further three-dimensionality by using brushed copper skeletonized hands. Like the Modello Uno, the timepieces provide water resistance up to 300 meters, a 41.5mm steel case, and a 120-click bezel. The inner workings feature a Seiko automatic caliber NH35Z, which provides 41 hours of power reserve, hacking seconds, and hand winding. The U1-NR is a limited edition of 54 individually numbered pieces that come on a black nylon NATO-style strap with a DLC-treated buckle that matches the case. The U1-NRN is a limited edition of 39 individually numbered pieces that feature traditional stainless steel construction and a unique three-link stainless steel bracelet.
