What richness you’ll find in the world of what-if. What if more women were attracted to middle-age men with bald spots and paunches? What if there were more openings for beer quality control tasters? What if Austria’s Titan Motorcycle Company hadn’t already sold that fully rebuilt Titan BMW K100 Xaver?
Proprietors Tom and Mike had on their hands a not overly attractive Beamer from the mid-eighties, but they also had a potential customer. The two enthusiasts restore motorcycles, sometimes to the glory days the bikes never actually had. With the K100 Xaver they did such a fundamental makeover as to reinvent the bike’s profile by lifting the subframe from under the gas tank. They added LED lighting, a keyless ignition system, a USB charger and a Motoscope Pro digital dash panel display. The Beamer would never again look like it came with a shrug from the Eighties.
They used handmade aluminum replacement parts, added a genuine leather seat with unique stitching and removed nearly 90 pounds of excess weight to improve its twist and turn performance through congested European cities. And then, just to show how bad-ass they really were, they sexed up the BMX K100 Xaver further by going matte black with the whole drivetrain, engine and gearbox covers. Made all that aluminum pop, it did.
What if, you ask yourself. What if the Titan boys hadn’t sold that bike and you found yourself inexplicably in possession of it. What then?
