Imagine running out of milk for your cereal in the morning, yet you don’t want to run out to the grocery store. Wouldn’t it be awesome to have the grocery store come to you? It may be more of a reality than you realize with the Moby Mart.
The Moby Mart is a mobile supermarket concept developed by Wheelys Inc., Hefei University and Himalafy. Think of it as a solar-powered, self-driving mobile convenience store. Currently going through beta testing in Shanghai, the mobile market will drive to your location with the use of a mobile app. It is completely autonomous as you would be able to enter the store to purchase items such as milk, medicine or lunch items. You would also be able to order certain items in advance and just pick them up when the Moby Mart arrives at your location.
All you have to do is scan the item into your phone as the mobile store deducts the costs from your linked bank account. Then you walk out of the Moby Mart as it drives to the next location. Another interesting feature is that the mobile supermarket will have an air purifier that will clean up air pollution wherever it drives.
The retail world is constantly changing as the Moby Mart is an innovation designed to offer a greater level of shopping convenience. When people require the simple grocery items they need yet can’t get to a regular grocery store, the Moby Mart may be their grocery store option.
