TAG Heuer is celebrating the return of the Monaco Grand Prix with the launch of the Monaco Titan Special Edition, limited to 500 pieces. Named after the most high-profile Grand Prix of them all, the original Heuer Monaco was originally released in 1969, and it remains an iconic timepiece to this day. TAG Heuer has given its 52-year-old Monaco a fresh new look by using lightweight Grade 2 titanium that has been sandblasted for a stunning matte finish casing that contrasts with the smooth silver dial. Rather than the in-house manufactured Heuer 02 movement used in the most recent Monaco watches, TAG Heuer has opted for a modern version of the Calibre 11 automatic chronograph movement that powered the original 1969 Monaco. The proportions of the watch remain the same, still coming in at 39mm squared.

The distinctive square case of the Monaco Titan is characterized by angled chronograph buttons on the right side and the crown on the left – an unconventional feature that has distinguished the Monaco over the past 50 years. When the watch was originally introduced, the crown was positioned on the left indicating that the watch did not need winding thanks to its automatic movement. The TAG Heuer Monaco Titan features a silvered Panda dial featuring a heritage Heuer logo and just like in the original Monaco from 1969, the hour markers are flat silver strips with bevelled edges. The hour and minute hands are filled with Super-LumiNova to ensure readability even in poor light conditions. Also featured are black small seconds and 30-minute chronograph counter sub-dials at the three and nine o’clock positions, respectively, while the central chronograph seconds hand and the 12 o’clock hour marker are highlighted in a dark red. This look is finished with a black alligator leather strap.
