The launch of Nintendo’s Switch 2 may have satisfied mainstream gamers, but seasoned veterans have been eagerly anticipating the release of Steam’s dedicated console for the big screen. Following the massive success of the Steam Deck, the Steam Machine is set to redefine console gaming in 2026.

Boasting six times the power of the Steam Deck, the Steam Machine is designed to play games from every Steam library with a high-quality presentation of the latest AAA games. With the performance of a high-end gaming PC and a streamlined setup, its launch is set to become a defining moment in gaming history.

Under the hood, the Steam Engine utilizes an optimized operating system with a 4K gaming CPU and GPU for consistently smooth 60 frames-per-second gaming. Two storage capacity options will be available at launch, with the smaller 512GB version paired with a 2TB model for extensive game collections.

In terms of connectivity, online gamers are supported with 2×2 WiDFi 6E functionality and a dedicated antenna for Bluetooth 5.3 connections. The Steam Engine also comes with wireless controllers and all the necessary peripherals for connecting to high-resolution monitors.

Presented in a striking, compact form factor for discreet placement on desks or in living rooms, the Steam Machine eschews the standard brick-like power supply in favor of a built-in power supply. Thanks to the vibrant LED strip, users can easily monitor download progress and customize the display’s colors and animations.

While no launch price has been announced, the Steam Machine is set to become a best-selling console for hardcore and casual gamers alike.
