Earlier this year, Disney and Lucasfilm announced Star Wars: Episode IX would be what it dubbed, the “end of the Skywalker saga.” This took many fans aback as they assumed there would likely be another trilogy of films to help wrap everything up. But with Disney looking to eventually distance itself away from the grounded core characters of the original Star Wars trilogy, the company decided Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker would be the final film of the nine-part series.
Not a ton is yet known about the story of the film, other than it takes place several years after the conclusion of Episode VIII: The Last Jedi. What is known though is Ian McDiarmid, the man who originally played The Emperor in Return of the Jedi, and who played Senator Palpatine, who ultimately became The Emperor in the Prequel Trilogy, will reprise his role in some shape or form in The Rise of Skywalker. And now, the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Final Trailer has finally dropped with movie tickets on sale for pre-order now.
The final trailer is still light on story details, with director J. J. Abrams most likely trying to keep things close to his chest. Despite this lack of detail, the final trailer should be enough to get fans excited for this holiday season.
