The teaser trailer for Star Wars: Episode IX has finally arrived, and if you woke up this morning and thought to yourself, “man I hope the new Star Wars movie doesn’t have the worst possible title they could pick,” then we have some bad news for you. It’s called Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
On the one hand, nearly everything about the trailer looks pretty incredible — Rey with a lightsaber going toe-to-toe with Kylo Ren’s TIE Fighter, old Lando Calrissian finally back behind the console of the Millennium Falcon, C-3PO, Finn, and Poe fleeing danger on a skiff that looks like it was ripped right out of Mad Max: Fury Road, and that sinister laugh at the end that confirms a certain Big Bad will once again rear his ugly head.
But that title… certainly brings with it major Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice vibes. Just how far the Skywalker will rise remains to be seen, but we’ll all find out when the film opens on December 20, 2019.
