Recently leaked marketing photos and insider information about the upcoming Sonos Era 100 and 300 Speakers. Sonos hasn’t officially announced the speakers, but the brand is reportedly finalizing details for this pair of smart speakers. Both Sonos Era speakers will include Bluetooth 5.0, AirPlay 2 support, and Wi-Fi 6. Apparently, neither device has a built-in jack, but Sonos will sell a combo adapter and a line-in adapter for USB-C audio separately. Additionally, Sonos will highlight sustainable design, using less adhesive and more screws, allowing disassembly in case any components need repair or replacement. Plus, the Sonos Era 100 and 300 Speakers use less than two watts when idle and provide an efficient sleep mode.
The Era 300 showcases Dolby Atmos and spatial audio, producing immersive sound, with six drivers directing audio left, right, up, and forward. On the other hand, the Sonos Era 100 isn’t geared for spatial sound and doesn’t include upward drivers. Instead, it appears to be an evolution of the Sonos One, with an additional tweeter to create true stereo. It also features an enlarged mid-woofer for a powerful bass. And, while the Sonos Era 100 incorporates the design from its predecessor, its shape is rounder.
What’s more, Sonos updated the volume controls with an indented bar, making it easier to adjust. Finally, Sonos Era 100 and 300 Speakers provide a speech bubble button, allowing users to mute their built-in microphones, and a physical switch on the back to disconnect the mics completely. Look for the speakers to be released in the late March timeframe.
