Apple isn’t known for canceling projects. But that’s precisely what the tech behemoth did to the AirPower in 2019, much to the disappointment of Apple adherents who’d been waiting two years to buy the wireless charging pad. Driving the buzz was an advertised ability to place any compatible item anywhere on the pad and have it charge, which is still an uncommon feature today.
Enter YTREES and its Kickstarter-backed SENSE3 wireless charging device. SENSE3 features the “no look” charging Apple promised for its nixed AirPower: any compatible iPhones, Apple Watches, AirPods, and other Qi-compatible devices placed anywhere on the pad will begin charging immediately.
SENSE3 features 15W wireless charging for two devices and up to 20W for plugged-in devices, including small laptops or an iPad Pro. Overachievers can wirelessly charge two devices and plug in another to net a 25W output. For charging on the go, users can tap the SENSE3’s 10,000 mAh battery as a portable power bank that’s ready for action after a 3.5-hour charge on the 45W input.
The project has already blown past its $5,000 funding goal, with just under $31K pledged as of press time. Potential backers can still snag a unit at the $89 Super Early Bird price, though inventory is limited.
