SALT’s best-in-class sunglasses deliver comfort and style, designed by experienced opticians and manufactured in Japan to the highest standards. The brand’s latest release, a collaboration with Radford, offers a fresh take on shades with an eye on automotive heritage that recalls the striking driving frames worn by the iconic actor Steve McQueen.
With two new designs to choose from, the SALT. x Radford RS-500 & RS-600 Sunglasses collection incorporates key moments in racing car history as its starting point. Paul Newman raced at Le Mans in ’79 wearing his signature teardrop shades. Packed with cool retro details, they’re shades that wouldn’t be out of place on the sidelines of an F1 racing circuit.
Reflecting Radford’s experience as a contemporary coach builder, the collection begins with the RS-500, which shares the streamlined aesthetics and uncompromising performance of the brand’s rich heritage. Presented with a custom titanium automotive-inspired side hood and front grill, it’s finished with the limited edition John Player Special (JPS) and Gold Leaf (GL) heritage colors.
The RS-600 continues the theme with a striking grill design across the bridge and uses the same high-grade Japanese titanium for a lightweight and durable finish. Each limited edition has optical-grade CR-39 polarized lenses and an organic SALT. pattern custom stamped on the inside of temple tips and nose pads.
The SALT. x Radford RS-500 & RS-600 sunglasses collection is presented in a perforated leather case with a velvet interior and custom eyewear cloth. It is a worthy homage to one of the greatest eras of motorsports.
