The 247 surviving letters of the Roman statesman Pliny the Younger offer historical accounts of some of civilization’s most defining events. From the reign of Nero and the Year Of 4 Emperors to the eruption of Mount Vesuvius that engulfed Pompeii, his writings have survived nearly 2 millennia. As we enter 2020, the Russian River Pliny the Younger TRIPLE IPA bears his name to commemorate another historic occasion. For the first time ever, Russian River Brewing Company will release its famous triple IPA in 510ml bottles to commemorate its 16th anniversary.
The 10.25% ABV American Imperial IPA is rated as one of the top 10 beers in the world, with a score of 100 from BeerAdvocate. Its complex flavor profile includes tastes of pine, resin, citrus, and other botanical notes. Each flavor envelopes the palate with an especially smooth sip, showing the true potential of what an IPA can achieve.
For nearly 20 years, the first Friday of February has marked the release of this heralded triple IPA. Last year, the release drew visitors from 42 states and 14 countries around the world to the brewery’s Santa Rosa headquarters. The occasion saw $4.16m of revenue injected into the local area. Prepared to better that feat this year, Russian River plans to hold a preview dinner that entitles attendees to purchase 2 bottles of this precious beer.
