To say Razer’s Viper Mini Signature Edition is the best in its class is to do it a grave disservice. In every meaningful way imaginable, the Viper Mini Signature Edition sits in a class all by itself. If De Bethune did gaming mice, this is what it would make.
For starters, its weight – a ridiculous 49 grams – is lighter than everything else out there. While other companies cut weight by punching holes in a mouse’s body, putting the peripheral at risk of a mid-DOTA 2 match crackup, Razer ultimately chose a tough-as-nails magnesium lattice exoskeleton that exposes the guts of this mouse.
If leaving the delicate circuits of a $280 masterwork mouse exposed seems like a risky idea, that’s because it isn’t meant to be a daily-driver mouse. It’s intended for intense gaming sessions and competitions where 30,000 DPI sensitivity and a 4,000 Hz HyperPolling dongle – which fires too fast for most humans to comprehend the speed – can make or break the match. A 90-minute charge via USB-C provides up to 60 hours of battery life, while five programmable buttons offer some macro flexibility.
The box includes custom rubber grip tape and one set of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 Mouse feet for the mouse to protect the unit and surfaces from scratching during intense sessions. The first limited run of Viper Mini SEs drops on February 11.
