Pro-Ject Gives Harley-Davidson a Turntable

A Bar & Shield plinth, glass platter, and S-shaped tonearm turn motorcycle iconography into hi-fi hardware.

Brand-shaped audio equipment usually asks the logo to do more work than the mechanism. The Pro-Ject Harley-Davidson Turntable takes the Bar & Shield silhouette seriously, machining it from solid MDF so the visual conceit also becomes a rigid, resonance-damping plinth.

The belt-drive deck uses an electronically controlled AC synchronous motor for 33 and 45 rpm playback. A 300mm glass platter sits over a diamond-cut aluminum sub-platter, producing 2.75 kilograms of moving mass for stable speed. The hand-polished 8.6-inch aluminum S-shaped tonearm uses an SME-style removable headshell and arrives with Pro-Ject’s Pick it Pro moving-magnet cartridge.

The collaboration adds a genuine leather platter mat and a 915-gram record puck carrying Harley-Davidson graphics, but the mechanical package remains serviceable rather than ornamental. A stainless-steel spindle runs in a brass bushing, the motor receives regenerated DC-to-AC power, and the included low-capacitance phono cable preserves upgrade flexibility. It follows Pro-Ject’s established artist-edition turntables while grounding the emblem in useful mass.

Pro-Ject builds the limited special edition in Europe. U.S. special orders are priced at $3,299 through authorized dealers; production quantity has not been disclosed.
