When we heard the news that there will be a Power Rangers reboot coming to theaters, we were a bit skeptical, as most film adaptations of of our favorite childhood TV shows and comic books, especially at the hands of Michael Bay, have taken a large stinking dump on our precious childhood memories. Add the fact that Power Rangers is mostly known for their kid-friendly action and cheesy dialogue, we weren’t sure what to expect from the film, despite the filmmakers promising a gritty and realistic take on the franchise.
However, our worries have been put to rest thanks to this super serious official teaser trailer for the upcoming Power Rangers film. It follows five ordinary teenagers, a la The Breakfast Club, chosen by destiny to save the world. We get a short glimpse of Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa in the teaser above, as well as a brief look at the transformation process of the Red Ranger. Slated to hit theaters March 24, 2017, the film also stars Bryan Cranston as their leader Zordon and Bill Hader voicing the robot sidekick Alpha 5.
