Porsche and Airstream, two iconic brands known for road performance, have partnered up to create a visionary concept. This concept is a single-axle travel trailer capable of sleeping two people comfortably while being compact enough to fit inside a garage during storage. Moreover, its lightweight construction and advanced aerodynamics make it ideal for EV and small SUV towing.
The team at Studio F. A. Porsche worked with Airstream to create this Travel Trailer concept. The minimalist-styled travel trailer measures 16.4 feet in length and has a one-floor plan. The concept of the trailer features carbon fiber components to save weight. For Airstream, this concept hosts a series of firsts for the company. It is the first Airstream travel trailer designed to fit inside a garage thanks to its automatic suspension. This suspension allows the trailer’s chassis to become adjustable to improve its aerodynamic drag coefficient and lower its height to fit inside most home garages.
Inside, the interior floor plan uses windows, skylights, and a pop-up roof to help connect the occupants with the outside world while improving the feeling of space. In addition, the trailer has a redesigned rear hatch featuring a hinge-up hatch and a drop-down tailgate. Lastly, an awning allows occupants to create a leisure place shielded from the sun. Digital renderings of the Porsche Airstream Travel Trailer show the futuristic recreational home being towed by what appears to be a Porsche Macan embarking on scenic adventures.
