Porsche has unveiled a special edition model to celebrate 50 years of Porsche Design. The car is based on the Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS with exclusive details meant to be a rolling tribute to the original designs of Ferdinand Alexander Porsche. Only 750 examples will be built, available in either Black or Jet Black Metallic paintwork. The color option references the Chronograph I, the first product produced by Porsche Design.

The 911 Porsche Design 50th Anniversary Edition features a satin-finished Platinum Targa bar. Its black paint features a contrasting color decorative film on the doors. Moreover, the special edition 911 sits on Platinum satin-finish 20-inch wheels at the front and 21-inch at the rear. Small details include the Porsche crest on the wheel hub covers. The brake calipers have also been painted black. Unique badging is featured throughout the car’s exterior and interior.

The car features a black leather interior with Sport-Tex equipment and Slate Grey seams. The center panels display a check pattern in Black and Cool Grey, and this color scheme is displayed throughout the cabin. The interior’s centerpiece is the Porsche Design Subsecond clock on the dashboard. This timepiece features a red second hand similar to the Chronograph I wristwatch released by Porsche Design in 1972. In addition, the 911 Porsche Design 50th Anniversary Edition comes with the Sport Chrono package to help keep its 473-hp power on the road while racing towards a top speed of 190 mph.
