Persol adds Midas’ touch on its latest pair of sunglasses. The Persol La Casa de Papel Limited Edition features the label’s classic black acetate frame fashioned into an aviator silhouette. Their party piece is the pair of 24k gold plated lenses that starkly contrast with the dark frames, giving the sunglasses an elegant aesthetic easily distinguished from other shades.
The sunglasses bear the namesake of the binge-worthy Netflix series Money Heist. Netflix acquired the streaming rights to the Spanish-language crime thriller after its original run concluded in late 2017. These special edition sunglasses debut just in time for the second season of the series. In apropos fashion, the plot of Money Heist picks up following a robbery of the Royal Mint of Spain. The story’s protagonists have escaped to disparate locations to revel in their newly found riches but the happy ending proves too good to be true after Europol arrests one of its ringleaders. Faced with the loss of one of their own, the gang reassembled with the help of some new additions to spring one of their own. These Persol sunglasses would look the part on the set of the series given their baroque design — the only problem would be keeping your cover given the shades’ golden glow.
