“Mopeds are back!” Or so exclaims San Francisco’s ONYX Motorbikes. And in light of its new electric-powered prototypes, the company seems to know what it’s talking about. Inspired by the classic mopeds of the 70s and 80s, ONYX creates nostalgic motorbikes with electric drivetrains that are built tough and fun to ride. It is proud to release the RCR and the CTY — a pair of incredible lightweight bikes with the highest torque direct-drive motors in their class and a 2-stroke, power-band feeling throughout the entire throttle range.
Nicknamed “The Free Spirit,” the CTY is perfect for getting around town. It features a 25 to 40-mile range and top speeds of more than 30mph. If you’re looking for a shot of pure adrenaline, however, you want to take a good look at the RCR. Otherwise known as “The Café Blaster,” this bike can hit 60mph on the highway and travel up to 75 miles for open country exploration.
