From the YouTube channel FXitinPost comes a reimagined version of the classic duel between Old Ben and Darth Vader from Star Wars: A New Hope. Through creative use of visual effects and editing, this version packs a more emotional punch and creates a sense of tension that was unfortunately missing from the original.
The entire fight is faster-paced and expertly choreographed, consisting of brutal punches, force pushes, and lightsaber throws — more like how we’ve come to know lightsaber battles today. It’s clear from the start that Vader is stronger, putting Kenobi on the defensive for most of the fight.
The classic moments are still there, including Kenobi’s classic “If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine” line and his knowing look at Luke before Vader strikes. For old and new fans alike, it’s a beautiful homage.
