The Nintendo Switch 2 is officially here, and it’s everything you’ve been waiting for. Following months of rumors and speculation, Nintendo has confirmed the launch of their next-gen console with a sleek design, improved functionality, and a promise to deliver better-than-ever gaming. The Switch 2 features an upgraded 8-inch screen and a new black-on-black color scheme with vibrant blue and red accents on the joysticks. The controllers now sit on a refined, beveled edge for a more polished look, and the redesigned kickstand can bend to a 140-degree angle, making it easier to play on the go.

If you’re itching to get your hands on it, you’re in luck—Nintendo is holding exclusive hands-on events in New York, Los Angeles, and Dallas, where you can try the Switch 2 firsthand. Just make sure you’re quick—tickets go live on January 17, and demand will undoubtedly be high. Register here. When it comes to backward compatibility, Nintendo promises that most of your original Switch games will be playable on the Switch 2, although some titles may not be fully compatible.

Nintendo has yet to reveal the full details of the specs, but we know the console will feature a redesigned dock with USB-C and additional cutouts for better airflow. The new JoyCon controllers will snap onto the console magnetically, possibly ending the notorious stick drift issue. As the hype builds, more details will drop in the upcoming Nintendo Direct this April—stay tuned.
