The announcement of the Netflix Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy Release Date tantalizingly builds the drama of the first installment of the epic. Part 1, Siege, begins the latest redux of the saga between Autobots and Decepticons. This Netflix Original returns the Transformers to their animated origins as Optimus Prime and Megatron vie for supremacy over their home planet. Megatron’s quest for the Allspark and the unbridled power it provides puts the Autobots in peril of falling under his hegemony. Yet, the Autobots are fueled by the vigilance of their fearless leader to overcome the odds stackedo against them, despite being heavily outnumbered and battle-weary.
This incarnation of Transformers is styled unlike any other. The aesthetic of the animation is something between the anime-style of the cartoon and the CGI-realism of the Michael Bay films. The first series in the trilogy will consist of six 22-minute episodes set on Cybertron. The second series has been bestowed the title Earthrise, giving a hint at how the course of the interstellar civil war between Transformers will shape the course of their destiny. A title for the third series in this Transformers trilogy has yet to be disclosed. The re-imagined vision of this iconic cartoon is set to add another iconic series to the pantheon of Netflix Originals, streaming everywhere beginning on July 30.
