Moncler, the luxury Italian fashion brand, has released its Born to Protect Collection, a line of sustainably produced down jackets. In 2020, Moncler announced their Born to Protect sustainability commitment and this capsule is the first physical collection to meet its new eco-friendly criteria. The items in the collection represent the leading principles around which Moncler adheres in an effort to respond responsibly to one of the most important issues in contemporary fashion: sustainability.
The collection is available only in monochromatic black, because, according to Moncler, “sustainability is for everyone, all the time, so the jackets are created in a color that can work for every occasion.” It consists of several of Moncler’s most classic silhouettes. There are three styles to choose from: a full-length parka equipped for the frostiest days, a sportier hip-length jacket, and a convertible style with a removable hood and sleeves. Every material in the jacket except the down is sustainable. All fabrics and accessories (including zips) are made from regenerated ECONYL nylon, which is derived from land and ocean-based waste. The down is 100% DIST certified (Down Integrity System and Traceability), which ensures a transparent supply chain and high farming standards. All shipping materials including paper and boxes are even responsibly sourced or recycled – now that’s commitment!
