Gear company Moment recently dropped the M-Series 1.55x Anamorphic Lens Gold Flare for mobile filmmaking. The company says it found inspiration in the iconic 1.5x Iscorama 54 and designed a mobile anamorphic with a subtle yellow/gold flare, and an ultra-wide format to create a cinematic look for mobile videos. The Moment M-Series anamorphic lenses give phone footage a wider aspect ratio, allowing users to capture more of the scene in a single frame. Plus, the lenses capture more light, a greater depth of field, and provide increased sharpness for a better bokeh or background blur. Moment says the M-Series 1.55x Anamorphic Lens Gold Flare isn’t their first Anamorphic lens, but it is the widest.
The 1.55x Anamorphic lens features Moment’s proprietary mounting system, making it easy to attach to the phone with a simple twist and lock using an M-Series lens mount or Moment Case. Additionally, the iOS Moment Pro Camera App allows users to shoot in a 1.55x aspect ratio and save it directly to the camera roll. Not only that, but the app provides filmmaking tools to give users complete control over the image. And the 1.55x Anamorphic lens is also compatible with Moment’s 67mm Lens Filter Mount so that users can apply filters as well.
Finally, built-in (M)Force magnets in the phone case allow users to attach gear using MagSafe. The Moment M-Series 1.55x Anamorphic Lens Gold Flare can be preordered for $120, with shipping that begins in late March.
