The new trailer for Pixar’s Lightyear, the upcoming sci-fi action-adventure animated movie has just been released. Featuring the voice talents of Chris Evans as Space Ranger Buzz Lightyear, the movie will open in theaters on June 17, 2022. Lightyear will be the first Pixar project since 2020’s Onward to receive an exclusive release in theaters.
Lightyear centers around the brave Space Ranger of Star Command who inspired the best-selling action figure in the Toy Story universe. Buzz is on a test flight, goes off course to explore a mysterious planet, and makes a crucial mistake along the way. As a result, he and his entire crew find themselves marooned on this hostile planet 4.2 million light-years from Earth. For a whole year, everyone works together to figure out a way to escape this alien planet; however, the arrival of Buzz’s old nemesis, Emperor Zurg (James Brolin) with his army of brutal robots, threatens their mission to return to Earth. Directed by Angus MacLane, the voice cast includes Keke Palmer, Dale Soules as Buzz’s goofy robot feline named Sox, Taika Waititi, Uzo Aduba, Mary McDonald-Lewis, Efren Ramirez, and Isiah Whitlock Jr.
