If you want a 35mm camera without any of the complicated yet inherent technical bells and whistles that are both a blessing and a curse in modern photography, you just can’t do better than the Leica M series. For nearly 65 years, the M series has defined elegant simplicity with cameras and lenses that span both the analog and digital film eras.
The newest release in the M series, the Leica M10-P Camera promises to take the “traditional understatement” to another level entirely. Although the improvements to 2017’s Leica M10 are subtle, they are absolutely key in the eyes of dedicated photographers.
The M10-P includes the quietest shutter in any M camera (and we’re including the legendary film Leicas here), and the prominent “red dot” Leica log on the front of the M series camera is gone, replaced by an unobtrusive Leica lettering on the top plate. The M10-P is also the first M series to feature touchscreen functionality.
