Leatherman has released the Signal Sandstorm, a limited-edition version of its outdoor-focused multi-tool built around the same 19-tool platform with a new desert-toned finish.
The Signal has long been one of Leatherman’s most trail-ready designs, positioned less as a workshop tool and more as a compact kit for camp, overlanding, hiking, and emergency use. The Sandstorm edition keeps that core layout intact while adding a more distinctive visual treatment.
Its 420HC stainless steel combo knife and saw feature a Burnt Bronze Camo blade color with Cerakote and laser imaging, while the 420 stainless steel frame is finished in Sandstorm Cerakote. Glow-in-the-dark accents on the sharpener and ferrocerium rod improve visibility after sunset, a small but useful detail for a tool intended to live outside.
The tool set covers the essentials without leaning too heavily into gimmickry. It includes needlenose and regular pliers, premium replaceable wire cutters and hard-wire cutters, a wire stripper, 420HC combo knife, saw, hammer, awl with thread loop, can opener, bottle opener, 1/4-inch hex, bit driver, 1/4-inch box wrench, 3/16-inch box wrench, carabiner, safety whistle, ferrocerium rod, and diamond-coated sharpener. Leatherman also includes a Phillips #1-2 and 3/16-inch screwdriver bit, along with a cream nylon sheath finished with bronze stitching.
The Signal Sandstorm measures 4.5 inches closed and 6.75 inches open, with a 2.73-inch primary blade, 1.5-inch width, and 0.63-inch overall thickness. It weighs 7.5 ounces, which keeps it packable without stripping away the more substantial outdoor features. The tool also retains several practical Signal signatures, including outside-accessible tools, one-hand-operable features, a removable pocket clip, and locking implements except for the plier head.
What separates this version from the standard Signal is not a new tool loadout, but the way Leatherman packages a proven outdoor platform as a more collectible field piece. The Sandstorm finish, camo blade treatment, glow accents, and matching sheath give it a stronger visual identity while preserving the utility that made the Signal a favorite among campers and preparedness-minded users.
