Small slings often trade access for discretion. The WaterField Traverse Sling cuts its main zipper diagonally, opening wide toward the wearer while a formed top hood keeps the contents from becoming a public inventory.

The 2.5-liter crossbody is sized for a phone, wallet, keys, earbuds, and a compact camera or notebook rather than a tablet. Its angled shoulder straps pull the structured silhouette close to the body, and a self-aligning Fidlock buckle releases with one hand. The same buckle also makes it simple to loop the bag around a chair when a table lacks a secure place for it. Water-resistant YKK zippers protect the main opening.

Material choice changes the character without changing the pattern. Black or navy EcoPak brings abrasion resistance, low weight, and weather protection; brown waxed canvas develops a softer hand and visible patina. All three versions use full-grain leather accents.

That restraint separates the Traverse from larger modular EDC bags that treat expansion as the primary feature. Here, the diagonal opening is the engineering idea and the visual signature.

WaterField Designs makes the Traverse Sling in San Francisco. It costs $159 in every material combination; the current batch is sold out, with the next release listed for September 4.
