By the end of this week, one fortunate sports fan will be the new owner of a V8-powered piece of sports memorabilia, Kobe Bryant’s Custom 1963 Chevrolet Impala. It has been one year since Kobe Bryant’s tragic death, and fans around the world are still grieving the sudden loss of the beloved NBA legend. The origins of this car are rooted in 2006 when Bryant’s wife, Vanessa, brought the car to West Coast Customs. She wanted the Chevy Impala built as a Christmas gift for her husband. Ties to sports legends aside, this ’63 Impala is a professionally restored and custom car.
West Coast Customs built this Impala from the ground up by disassembling the entire vehicle to its bare metal. The car wears a bespoke custom blend of purple and royal blue with refinished chrome trim. Inside, the Impala’s interior is upholstered in white leather featuring Swarovski crystal studs. A car built to bounce, the Impala’s custom hydraulic suspension features two Pro Hopper “Envious Touch” pumps with four switches to bop and sway with the beat of any music blasting through the Sony amplifier and subwoofers. Moving all this style is the Impala’s original 327 small block V8, rebuilt and tuned by West Coast Customs. Goldin Auctions is currently auctioning the car, and at the time of this publication, the current bid is $170,000 with three days left.
