Kimera Automobili is building a limited run of sports cars based on the iconic Lancia 037 production rally car. Only 37 units are being made, and Kimera Automobili has delivered its first one, the EVO37 chassis 001, to an unnamed car collector in St. Moritz. What is known is the car’s name, Esmeralda, and she is shown wearing a shade of dark green with yellow-tinted headlights. The exquisite wheel design is painted in a color combination of silver and dark bronze spokes. Inside, the interior cabin is covered in tan and green Alcantara leather.
Customers can spec out their Kimera EVO37 using a virtual reality program. In addition, the program allows customers to view every step of the car’s construction process and request personal details. Besides bespoke features, the Kimera EVO37 achieves speed using a 2.1-liter four-cylinder engine that is turbocharged and supercharged to produce over 500-hp and 406 lb.-ft of torque. The engine building is overseen by the same man who built the original Lancia 037 Group B rally cars, Claudio Lombardi. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. In addition, the car’s body panels are made out of carbon fiber – an upgrade from the original’s fiberglass.
At the time of this publication, Kimera Automobili says 26 out of 37 units already have an owner. The remaining nine cars now come with a higher price tag, but it does include a carbon fiber package and digital rear camera as standard.
