Kia Stinger Sports Sedan

Kia has the Germans directly in its crosshairs as they introduce the new Stinger sports sedan at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show.

Every January, car manufacturers flock to Detroit to show off their latest creations at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS). While all car companies try to bring their A-game to Detroit, Kia, makers of practical and affordable people movers, seems to have stole this year’s show with their new Stinger sports sedan. While parent company Hyundai has shown its upmarket aspirations with the recently launched Genesis brand, Kia is is doing so by creating a stunningly designed sports sedan to sit alongside its K900 luxury sedan.

The brand new Kia Stinger is based on the GT Concept that was introduced at Frankfurt back in 2011. The mid-size sedan will be available with a 2.0-liter turbo unit that produces 255-hp or a more potent 3.3-liter V6 twin-turbo that makes a mouth watering 365-hp capable of reaching 60 in just 5.1 seconds. Both powertrains will drive either the rear wheels or all four wheels. The stunning exterior design sets itself apart with its clean lines and attractive proportions, while the interior continues the sleek design with a minimal and easy to understand layout. The Stinger will also feature a host of safety and convenience features, including a lane departure warning system that will automatically correct the vehicle’s path, collision detection, and much more. Slated to go on sale Stateside this summer, with prices yet to be announced, this vehicle will put Kia on a completely new playing field that has been mostly dominated by Germans.
