With the catchphrase “It’s finger lickin’ good,” it’s no wonder that KFC is having a bit of fun with its upcoming Cyber Monday promotional product, the KFC Internet Escape Pod. With a whopping (no, that’s not a Burger King reference) price of $10,000, the KFC Internet Escape Pod promises to “let Colonel Sanders’ protective embrace take you back to a simpler time.” However, the company is quick to mention that their specialty is fried chicken, not creating Internet-blocking devices. As such, it’s noted that someone special will have to a) buy the device, b) let a qualified assembler put the pod together, and c) test the pod to see if it lives up to its full potential.
Made from a combination of steel and stainless steel mesh, and small pieces of fried chicken adorn the pod at various junctures. The Colonel himself is constructed from eight pounds of high-density architectural foam and enamel paint. He is draped over the cage in a loving, “protective” embrace. At 7′ x 7′ x 6′ 6”, time will tell if this giant cage is worth the bragging rights.
For the lover of holiday gag gifts, the KFC Internet Escape Pod brings a whole new level to the game. However, anyone interested in purchasing the pod better hurry, as the site promises that “this chicken goodness is on close out, and won’t be replenished when sold out.”
