UPDATE: The Kanye West Air Yeezy samples sold for $1.8 million in a private sale, making them the most expensive sneakers in the world.

The Kanye West ‘Grammy Worn’ Nike Air Yeezy Sample is a unique pair of sneakers that are guaranteed to be one of a kind. In fact, this is the exact same pair of footwear that Kanye West wore to the 50th Annual Grammy Awards, the same pair that he wore as he performed “Stronger,” and the same pair he wore as he greeted Usher onstage. At the time, Kanye’s star was still rising. Not only did he win in four categories, but this was the first time that the Yeezy brand sneaker had made a public appearance.

Yeezy has become a signature shoe that is coveted by collectors worldwide. Made in Beaverton, Oregon, this first pair of Yeezys is made of buttery soft leather dyed black. There is detailed perforation all over the upper that adds to the flair but also makes the sneakers highly breathable. The iconic Yeezy medallion lace locks appear in bright orange at the top of the tongues along with the forefoot strap. This special pair of Yeezys also comes with a custom-made wooden box that is emblazoned with a personal etching by none other than Mark Smith, the Yeezy 1 designer. The sneakers are only available for private sale through Sotheby’s and are currently on view at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from April 16th to April 21st.
