Just Dishin, a hockey streetwear brand, partnered with footwear customizer, kota kustoms to produce the Air Jordan 1 “Chicago” Hockey Skates. Just Dishin founders Matthew Keeler and Ben Madafferi represent a movement of self-expression in hockey culture. The duo represents “a new generation of players and creatives from all walks of life.” Each of their designs is created in-house and are inspired by art, music, and fashion. To support their efforts, they founded SkateSkins, a custom skate wrap company. Dakota Wiley, founder of kota kustoms lent his considerable artistic expertise to the design of the Air Jordan 1 “Chicago” Hockey Skates.
The inspiration for the Air Jordan 1 “Chicago” Hockey Skates was, naturally, the Air Jordan 1 High basketball shoe that debuted in 1985 as the first signature sneaker developed by Nike for Michael Jordan. The Peter Moore-designed performance basketball sneaker featured a simple Nike Dunk-inspired design that incorporated the toe perforation, the Nike Swoosh, and the Jordan Wings logo. Just Dishin and kota kustoms replicated these features on the CCM custom boots, adding the iconic White/Black/University Red colorways.
