Here at IMBOLDN we’re big fans of items that can do double duty, especially when they combine our love of sports with our love of eating. Given that parameter then Jory Brigham’s Mackenrow Ping Pong Table takes the veritable cake.
A playful spin on tennis legend John McEnroe’s name, this Mackenrow serves up a spin. Crafted with tongue-in-cheek flair by Jory Brigham, drawing from the generations of woodworkers he descended from. Brigham has an attention to detail that most contemporary’s lack, choosing to craft each project from hand tools and raw materials over a mass produced machination.
Brigham’s full creative license is unrestrained with the Mackenrow, pushing the lines of the functional and carefully curated design. Much like Brigham’s own aesthetic journey, the game of table tennis has come a long way, from an idle activity to while away soldiers’ time at base to an actual Olympic sport. The Mackenrow celebrates functionality by combining a table tennis table with an actual dining table.
Whether you’re serving up volleys or vol-au-vents, the Mackenrow is a platform for you to do both. Crafted from gorgeous walnut the table on its own is a wonderful homage to the best of mid-century inspired design. A bright strip of orange runs through the length the midsection along with a sleek brass inlay on the surface top. When the dining is done and the games begin, the table is transformed with a classic Danish weaved net for hours of fun.
