Over the past few months, we have seen quite a few IWC releases. Now, the watchmaker has unveiled its Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Edition Racing Green, a timepiece that combines a black zirconium oxide ceramic case with a dial in an arresting racing green. IWC developed this high-tech material in the 1980s by using engineered ceramic, one of the hardest substances on earth. This 250-piece limited edition watch is 46.5mm in diameter and 15.6mm thick with a case that is completed by a conical crown. The case back ring is made of Ceratanium, yet another special alloy created by IWC that is light and scratch-resistant.

Displaying the date and power reserve at 3 o’clock, the green dial also shows the month at 6 o’clock and the day of the week and running seconds at 9 o’clock. In addition, the moon phase display at 12 o’clock shows the moon as seen from the northern and southern hemispheres. The perpetual calendar which was developed by IWC’s Kurt Klaus in the 1980s integrates the signature four-digit year display that can continue to function until 2499. The sun-brushed dial is highlighted by the gold-plated hands and the golden moons. The finishes of the IWC-manufactured 52615 caliber movement and its rotor with an 18-carat gold medallion can be admired through the sapphire glass back. The IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Edition Racing Green nicely is nicely matched to a black calfskin strap with a pin buckle.
