The Hyundai iMax N ‘Drift Bus’ is the kind of van that every soccer mom and dad secretly yearns for as they cart their kids to and fro. Created as a one-off by Hyundai Australia as a side project after realizing the van’s rear driven potential, the van gets all the proper N treatments, including upgrades that are more than just skin deep.
Though it looks like a run-of-the-mill Hyundai van on the outside, under the hood sings a V6 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged engine that pushes out 402 horsepower along with 409 lb-ft of torque. The suspension damping is electronically controlled with the 19-inch performance N wheels providing plenty of space for the rubber to meet the road.
Lest you think the improvements are limited only to the Drift Bus’ racing-inspired exterior, you’ll find sport seats for both the driver and front passenger. Only the driver, however, has the privilege of being able to wrap their hands around the N-series steering wheel. The back passengers — the van seats eight comfortably — can relax on seats trimmed in both leather and suede.
