Depending on who’s telling the story, it may end up being drastically different as each person will tell the story from their own perspective. It’s the same for movie trailers, where it’s main goal is to appeal to a wide audience within a short period of time, summarizing what the director had intended without giving too much away. That’s why music, sound effects, and dramatic cutaways are important, but when these effects are given a slight tweak, the resulting trailer ends up being something completely different.
Youtube channel CineFix has taken the trailer for the 1992 film Honey, I Blew Up the Kid and completely transformed it to what could only be described as every parents’ nightmare. The trailer to the sequel of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids has been recut with different music, sound effects, and even with Japanese text and voice over, to reimagine what was once an entertaining science-fiction comedy into a Godzilla movie. It’s an entertaining short clip, although the recut trailer above may be too real for some new parents learning the realities of parenting.
