H. Moser & Cie. will soon issue the final upgrade to its Swiss Alp Watch Collection. Originally meant in 2016 as a tongue-in-cheek dig at the world’s most famous smartwatch, H. Moser & Cie, never expected the collection to become the niche hit that it has. This last piece in the collection reflects the watchmaker’s wry sense of humor with the Vantablack dial that has a seconds subdial done to resemble the “spinning” loading icon that Mac users know and love. Limited to only 50 pieces, the Swiss Alp Final Upgrade also retires the admirable tonneau-shaped HMC 324 movement.

The Swiss Alp Final Upgrade comes in the now-familiar softly squared case, measuring 38.2 mm by 44 mm. As on all of Moser’s concept watches, the dial is ultra-minimalist, eschewing even a brand logo, with leaf-shaped black hands that contribute to the monochrome look, evoking its Apple-made doppelganger in standby mode. One needs only to turn the watch over to reveal that it is not a digital device but a highly sophisticated micro-mechanical one. On display behind the sapphire caseback is Moser’s manufacture Caliber HMC 324, a hand-wound movement with a 21,600-vph frequency and a four-day power reserve. Like all the Swiss Alp watches before it, this one has 30M of water resistance. Mounted on a hand-stitched black alligator strap to complete the dark monochromatic package, the one-of-a-kind Final Upgrade marks the end of production for H. Moser & Cie’s Swiss Alp Watch.
