Boston-based company Formlabs unites with Gillette to bring their stereolithographic printing technology to a special edition razor. The Gillette Razor Maker Apollo features a 3D printed handle that is designed to mimic a lunar surface in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. The design of this handle also includes a couple of easter eggs. Its base showcases a boot imprint in homage to man’s first step on the moon as well as a historic NASA insignia true to the period of the mission.
Exclusive through the company’s website, this razor is the vanguard of the Gillette Razor Maker concept. By harnessing the power of 3D printing, the grooming company can design limited edition releases like this as well as make improvements to the ergonomics of a handle, for an especially smooth shave.
