The Genesis GV80 Coupe Concept provides a look at the near-ready production model of the sleek mid-size SUV. The GV80’s standout feature is its elegant fastback roofline and ducktail rear lip spoiler. However, these are merely the tip of the iceberg of what makes this Genesis a worrying sight for its German rivals.

Based on appearance, the Genesis GV80 Coupe concept looks like it carries a high-performance secret. Even though it sits on 23-inch five-spoke forged aluminum wheels, they are wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Scorpion tires. Other evidence of performance is its cross-drilled and slotted rotors and massive fixed-piston brake calipers. In addition to its flashy Magma orange exterior color said to be inspired by the volcanoes surrounding the Korean peninsula.

More than just styling, the GV80 Coupe’s sleek exterior offers improved aerodynamics to reduce lift at high speed and a carbon fiber roof. The SUV also received a “G-Matric strut brace” behind the rear seats to increase the vehicle’s structural rigidity. Genesis didn’t disclose details on powertrains at the unveiling, but we can assume the GV80 Coupe will arrive at dealerships flexing the proven twin-turbo V6 setup.

The Genesis GV80 Coupe Concept interior consists of four bucket seats dressed in an eye-catching black Nappa and suede leather upholstery with plaid inserts and orange piping. In addition to carbon-fiber weaves on interior surfaces and Magma orange seat belts. At the time of this publication, we expect to see the final production of the Genesis GV80 Coupe next year.
