Ferrari unveiled its latest creation from the bespoke Special Projects department, where imagination is limited by how much you’re willing to spend. This new one-off model, the Ferrari SP-8 Spider, is based on the production F8.
Powertrain details are hush-hush, but we can presume that the twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V8 performance figures are pumped up from the F8’s standard 710 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque. The critical difference between the SP-8 and a production F8 is the roof deletion.
The owner who commissioned the car did not want a soft or hard top. It’s a full-time convertible, which meant Ferrari had to conduct wind-tunnel testing and track testing to ensure the SF-8’s comfort and ride control met the F8’s standards.
Custom details can be seen throughout the Ferrari SP-8 Spider. The two-tone exterior features unpainted carbon fiber with an exclusive Matte Argento Micallizato paint color developed for this car. Inside, the interior contrasts with Navy Blue Alcantara with yellow accents.
Design details include a reshaped front end with a 3D-printed front grille piece made from aluminum. The front headlights feature unique masks and lenses, as do the rear taillights. Moreover, the exhaust tips are done to look like the 296 GTB, and the wheel design is said to be inspired by the Ferrari F40. The interior cabin received a new center console to accommodate the F1-style gearbox from the SF90.
The Ferrari SP-8 Spider was on display at the Mugello Circuit and will now be transported to the Ferrari Museum in Maranello before being delivered to the owner in Taiwan in the spring of 2024.
