Referencing the mechanics of a car gearbox, the dunhill Transmission Collection limited-edition capsule consists of striking 18 karat white and yellow gold bracelets, rings, and pendant necklaces. Each piece features a signature ridge pattern, which was digitally milled. This process allows for extreme precision and high levels of detail. An interplay of grooves, diagonal cuts, and knurling are inspired by the complex textures and shapes that create a car’s transmission, hence the name — the dunhill Transmission Collection. Mark Weston, Creative Director of dunhill, explained the inspiration and purpose behind the dunhill Transmission Collection: “The exploration and interpretation of modern masculinity was integral in the development of this collection. I wanted to create something beautiful from something unexpected that embraces our legacy in fine jewelry and craftsmanship.”
Dunhill is not new to fine jewelry, or to accessories made from precious metals. For more than 100 years the brand, which was founded in 1893 by Alfred Dunhill in London, has been making lighters, cufflinks, cigarette cases, and pens, in addition to leather accessories, or “motorities,” for the car, such as gloves, glasses, and boots. The Transmission Collection is just another example of the stunning pieces of jewelry that have been crafted with innovation, excellence, and innate obsession. Andrew Maag, dunhill’s chief executive officer, explained the collection as one of “universal appeal”, which was a natural next step for the storied brand. He went on to describe the impetus behind this collection’s inception as: “to create a focused, thoughtful, cohesive new collection, one that blended modernity and tradition.”
