The new Converse x Stüssy Chuck 70 Surfman embodies the comeback of vintage Southern California style. Stüssy became a big name in the Southern California surf scene in the late ’80s and early ’90s. As the styles of those decades make a comeback, Stüssy does too. One of the company’s most significant leaps back into the limelight is its recent collaboration with Converse, the legendary shoe company acquired by Nike in 2003.
The latest collab, the Converse x Stüssy Chuck 70 Surfman, will hit shelves and online stores on Sept. 1st, at 8 a.m. EST. Stüssy’s version of the high-top Chuck 70 sneaker is bright pink with the company’s vintage “Surfman” logo embroidered on the ankle. Instead of the Chuck’s traditional heavy-duty canvas, this version features eco-friendly hemp to suit modern sensibilities. Stüssy touches are also on the interior and exterior of the sneaker’s tongue and the insole. Slight but visible changes to the classic Chuck 70 display Stüssy’s continued mission to depart from the norm. The Converse x Stüssy Chuck 70 Surfman brings the Surfman back into SoCal stardom via the world’s largest footwear company — Nike.
