If you’re going to go to all the trouble of wearing a watch while you’re in the water, it needs to offer a little something more than just the ability to tell the time. It needs to be revolutionary. It needs to be light, yet versatile — it needs to be powerful, yet sleek and sophisticated. It needs to be built in a way that it looks fantastic, yet is still legible at the same time. Thankfully, leading light-powered quartz watch manufacturer Citizen has something that does all of this and more and it’s definitely something you’re going to need to see to believe.

The Citizen Eco-Drive Professional Diver 1,000M is a light-powered dive watch with the single most extreme depth rating yet. Water pressure at 1,000 meters deep isn’t just harrowing — it’s extreme. So extreme that the nuclear attack submarine Thresher – one of the most advanced submarines ever built in the history of the Navy — failed at 700 meters. Now, nobody is saying that you should dive down to 1,000 meters on your own just to test this baby out — in fact, you really probably shouldn’t do that. But if you do, you’ll have a case made from super titanium alloy, a helium escape valve and accuracy of + or – 15 seconds per month to keep you company. But seriously, don’t dive down to 1,000 meters. That’s nuts.
