The Carrozzeria Frua 1967 BMW-Glas 3000 V8 Fastback Coupé Prototype is the only one of its kind. Its low-slung body highlights the sleek aggressiveness that BMW would incorporate into later incarnations. Pietro Frua also infused some Maserati-inspired influences into the design of this one-off prototype.
Shown at the 1967 Frankfurt Motor Show and the Paris Motor Show later that same year, the 3.0-liter V8 Carrozzeria Frua 1967 BMW-Glas 3000 V8 Fastback Coupé Prototype also made appearances at the Geneva Motor Show in 1968 and the Barcelona Motor Show in 1969. It was sold to a private owner who kept it for 20 years.
After being acquired by its next owner, the car underwent a mechanical restoration which included a paint job back to its original silver-blue metallic finish and new upholstery. After years of being kept in pristine condition, this historic BMW returns to Paris in February to hit the auction block at the Grand Palais.
